Internships for Current Students
The key element of the Pathways Program for current students is the Internship Program, which is open to students enrolled at least half-time in a variety of qualifying accredited educational programs at the high-school through professional levels. This program provides students with paid opportunities to work and explore Federal careers while still in school. This includes the Summer Hire Program, which offers students looking for temporary summer employment the opportunity to gain valuable work experience during the summer months. Students are provided the opportunity to gain marketable skills and earn money while being exposed to the life and culture of an Air Force installation.
Science, Mathematics, And Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarships
SMART is an additional program for current students that encourages students pursuing degrees in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to apply for Science, Mathematics, And Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarships. In addition to tuition and other educational expenses, SMART participants receive a generous cash award, health insurance allowance, and summer internships at AFCS facilities. SMART is open to U.S. citizens pursuing undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees who have demonstrated ability and special aptitude for excelling in STEM fields.
